The story behind the name
Four dogs. Four souls. One legacy that lasts forever.
The 4S Legacy Inc was not created from business plans or big ambitions. It was created from unconditional love, deep loss, and a promise made on the hardest night of Sophie's life.

Where it all began
For twelve years, Sophie has called Echuca home. It is where her life grew roots, where she became a mother of two, and where her days are full and her heart is even fuller. But more than anything, Echuca is where her story with four extraordinary souls truly began.
Sophie did not just have dogs. She had a family of four incredible companions who each came into her life at just eight weeks old, tiny, soft, and full of promise. In order: Slick, Solē, Sargent and Sahara.

The four amigos
Sophie first brought home Slick on Valentine's Day in 2013. At the time, she and her partner were living in a rental in Longreach, Queensland. Sophie was working as a wool handler, and her partner was a shearer. Slick spent every day with them in the shed, but they soon realised he was getting bored while they worked.
So, on the 8th of August 2013, Solē was brought home as a best friend for Slick, and they truly did become inseparable.
By October, their neighbours had a litter of puppies. Not just any puppies, but Great Dane puppies. Sophie's partner wanted his own dog, a pigging dog, as pigging was a popular weekend activity in Longreach. That is when Sargent joined the family.
Sargey never even got the chance to learn how to pig. From the moment he arrived, he became a total mummy's boy. There was something truly special about him, and the bond between Sophie and Sarge was instant and magical. It did not take long for him to become her dog too.
Three boys. Three amigos.
In January 2014, Sophie decided to move back to her hometown. Her dad flew up from Newcastle, New South Wales, to Longreach to drive Sophie and the boys home in her little green Mazda 2, seventeen hours on the road together.
Then, on the 2nd of March 2014, Sargey's parents had another litter of puppies. Because Sophie adored Sarge so much, in April 2014 her partner drove down from Longreach, and Sarge's blood sister, Sahara, joined the tribe.
Slick had Solē, Sargey had Sahara, but together they were the 4 Amigos. Four different personalities. Four different hearts. One unbreakable bond.

Growing up in Echuca
In June 2014, they all relocated to Echuca. They could not believe they were accepted for a rental with four dogs. They stayed in that first home for four years before needing to move. Sophie refused to go anywhere without all four of them, and luckily, they were accepted again into another rental with the whole crew.
In February 2020, they purchased a five-acre property just outside Echuca, which still remains their home today.

Slick, Solē, Sargey and Sahara grew up with Sophie through every season of her life, every change, every challenge. They watched her become the woman and mother she is today, standing beside her through it all.
Before Sophie became a mother in 2016, her dogs were her entire world. And even after becoming a mother, the bond she had with them, and the time she spent with them, never changed. If anything, it only grew stronger. Her world simply expanded, now revolving around both her children and her dogs.

Sahara, her big girl, and Solē, her little fella, are still by her side. Sahara turned twelve in March 2026 and Solē turned thirteen in June 2026.

Among the stars
But two of those four souls now live among the stars.
On the 6th of May 2025, Sophie had to say “see you soon” to her big, gorgeous boy, Sargey, her twelve-year-old Great Dane. He was not just a dog. He was her heart dog, a presence. Gentle, loyal, and full of love. Losing him did not just hurt, it completely shattered her. It left an awful silence that no amount of noise could fill.
As she tried to navigate her immense grief, she focused on the one thing she could control. Her sweet Blue Heeler, Slick, was twelve and a half years old and needed surgery. It was meant to give them more time together. More love. More cuddles. More days. She saved every dollar she could, now as a single mother, holding onto hope.
But the day Slick went into surgery, the future she imagined for him disappeared. He did not come home.
Just thirteen weeks to the day after losing Sargey, on the 5th of August 2025, Sophie had to say “see you soon” to her first baby, her sweet Slicky bum too.
Two goodbyes. Thirteen weeks. One completely broken heart.

A promise made in the dark
That night, Sophie lay in bed, hysterical with grief, trying to make sense of the pain. She had just spent every dollar she had saved on Slick's surgery. There was nothing left. No money for cremation. No funds for the keepsakes she had been able to get for Sargey.
The heartbreak of losing Slick was unbearable on its own. But the added weight of not being able to honour him the same way made the grief even heavier. It felt unfair. It felt cruel. And in that dark, painful moment, Sophie made a promise to herself.
She would make sure no one else who loved their companion the way she loved hers would ever have to feel that kind of pain.
Four days later, through tears, love, and determination, The 4S Legacy Inc was born. It was not created from business plans or big ambitions. It was created from unconditional love. From loss. From a broken heart that still wanted to help others.
A legacy of love
Today, The 4S Legacy Inc exists to solely support pet owners experiencing genuine financial hardship during the loss of a beloved companion animal. The charity provides funding for Private Pet Cremation services and Memorial Keepsakes through our Dignified and Respectful Private Pet Cremation Provider, so families can bring their furbaby home, treasure their ashes, and honour their memory without the added burden of financial stress.
The charity is in memory of Sargey and Slick, two boys who changed Sophie's life forever. But it is also for the future memory of Sahara and Solē. Because this is not just about loss. It is about lifelong love.
Sophie's dogs gave her unconditional loyalty, strength, and comfort through some of her hardest moments. They left an imprint on her heart that will never fade. And now, through The 4S Legacy Inc, their love continues to live on, not just in her heart and in her life, but in the lives of families who will be supported when they need it most.

In loving memory
Until we meet again.
